The Katholieke Hogeschool Limburg (KHLim) is a University College for higher education and research in Hasselt, Belgium (www.khlim.be). KHLim offers more than 40 bachelor and master programmes in a diversity of fields, including health care, social work, business & commerce, education, science & technology and media & design. KHLim’s strong commitment to research ensures state-of-the-art education and training programmes for its 5000 students. KHLim is part of the reputed University Association University of Leuven, which is the largest in Belgium and brings together 13 institutions of higher education in Flanders. 
KHLim’s teacher education department forms teachers for elementary as well as for secondary schools. It cooperates with many schools and experienced teachers in Flanders for in-service training of its students. It is member of the Expertise Network School of Education, Association University of Leuven which bring together 22 teacher education departments of 12 university colleges and 9 centres for adult education.
KHLim’s research unit the ‘Centre for subject Matter Teaching’ focuses on educational research related to Pedagogical Content Knowledge and Subject Matter Teaching. It has expertise in many national and European research, service and science communication  projects in education of Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Technology and Arts & Culture. Members of the group give lectures on Education in collaboration with various organizations and research groups. 
The centre maintains the website www.vakdidactiek.be and provides continuing education for more than 400 teachers every year. Within the Expertise Network School of Education Association University of Leuven, it promoted the key project on PCK named ‘Kernproject Vakdidactiek’ and developed the ‘Vak3dactic’-model which is used by most teacher education departments in Flanders (see http://www.vakdidactiek.be/vak3didactiek  and http://schoolofeducation.eu/kwaliteitsvolle-vakdidactiek )
